MRC takes great pride in finding and hiring the best coaches for our programs. The following are the bios for our current coaching staff.

Joe Calendo - Head Varsity Boys Coach

Coach Calendo successfully rowed for Temple University and coached for Temple University post-graduation. He recently coached St. Joe's Prep Summer Program as well as his own MRC rowers and has close ties to Crescent Rowing Club on Philadelphia's historic Boathouse Row. Coach Calendo graduated from Temple with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Excercise Science and continues his studies in his Masters Program at Temple.

Gary Wielgus - Novice Boys Coach

Coach Wielgus also successfully rowed for Temple University and has close ties to the Crescent Rowing Club as well, having earned a Canadian Henley Gold rowing for them.

Harry Carroll – Head Varsity Girls Coach
Harry comes to MRC with past experience in both rowing and coaching, as well as organizational accomplishments. After 4 years of high school rowing and 2 years of collegiate rowing experience, Harry was Bishop Eustace Prep Boys Head Coach and Program Director, and also Moorestown Rowing Club Head Coach and Program Director.  Harry founded organized an ran the Cooper River Sprint Regattas, and is a Board Member of the NJ Schoolastic Rowing Association. Assistant Girls Coach - Chris DeYoung
Chris has coached crews to medals at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, NJ States Championships, City Championships, and SRAA National Championships.  While the Men’s Assistant Coach at Rutgers, his Freshman 8 won the Knecht Cup in 2009, in addition to multiple dual race victories.  As an Assistant at the University of Michigan, Chris helped to coach several crews that had top place finishes at the Dad Vail Regatta and IRA National Championships. Chris has been a teacher and coach for over 15 years.
