MRC Programs Offered Throughout the Year
Learn to Row
MRC offers a learn to row program for students new to rowing. It is a week long introduction to the sport of rowing and is open to area students entering 7th and 8th grades in the fall. There are two of these week long programs offered in July. You can choose to do one or two weeks of rowing.
This is a two week program held in July. It is open to MHS students in 9th through 11th grade who want to try a different or new sport. This longer program builds upon the basics taught in our Learn to Row program and is appropriate for kids interested in rowing in high school. Your child does not have to have rowed in the Learn to Row program to participate in this program. We welcome all high school students up to 11th grade.
Advanced MRC Camp
An intense, 7 week rowing program for both girls and boys. Applicants should be experienced junior level rowers and coxswains who want to improve their skills and develop a better understanding of proper training, as well as enhance their connection to the sport of rowing. This program is open to athletes from all programs.
Fall Season Grades 9-12
The fall season runs from September through November. Students from Moorestown are welcome to participate. Varsity rowers will race in the Fall Season, while Novice rowers will train and may be eligible to race at the end of the season at the discretion of the coach. Both new to rowing or returning rowers are eligible to participate in the Fall season.
Fall Season Grades 7-8 *NEW* Rowing Program
This is a learn to row program for kids who are in 7th and 8th grades. This program will be executed in a typical crew practice setting, but at times more intensive than rowing camps. Participating rowers will not be racing outside of practice, but rather learning to row and gaining strengh in the sport to hopefully develop a passion for it and continue on into high school.
The spring season is the primary program offered through MRC. The season runs from December (starting with an indoor Erg Season) through the end of May and perhaps into June if your athlete is fortunate enough to qualify for USRowing Youth Nationals. Students from Moorestown High School, whether new to rowing or returning rowers, are eligible to participate in the season. Indoor training begins in December in the Erg Room with the move to the river when weather allows (typically March). Non-medal races and medal regattas (races) begin in mid-March.
